Satan Paint FAQ --------------- Finger help@crack.com for info on our latest games, and pointers to the latest spaint version. Q. Why in the hell is it called Satan Paint? :) Initially Satan Paint was quite difficult to use (even more than it is now!) and was dubbed Satan Paint by Guy Moar for this reason. It kinda stuck and I liked it for it unconventionality and reference to power and corruption. Q. What has Satan Paint been ported to? MS-DOS 386+ Linux Console Linux X11 AIX Sun SGI Q. Where can I get Satan Paint for port XXX? If I have compiled it and bother to store it : ftp.island.net Q. Is spaint public domain? No. Jonathan Clark owns all copyrights. Non-commercial use is fine, but if you are using it commercial product, send me some mail and we'll work something out. Q. I wish I had feature X, would you add it? Maybe - if it's not to hard for me and I can see some use for it personally. Can't hurt to ask... Q. What docs are available? This FAQ, and a file called satan_paint.doc If enough people ask me, I'll write more docs, but my time is limited. Q. Can I get source code? nope. Q. How can I read picture format XXX? X windows people can use X-view to display the picture (it supports a lot more formats than me). Then do a xwd -out test.wd. This dumps the window to a file called test.wd. Spaint can read the X-window dump format. DOS people can do a similar trick with Windows. Q. Spaint crashes when I do XXX, what should I do? Don't do it again :) Send me a bug report saying exactly what you did, if you can't repeat it, I don't want to hear about. Q. I've written a nifty game with the help of spaint, now what? If it's really cool, let us (at crack.com) look at it. We publish games and promise you a bigger cut than Apogee and Epic. All ideas will be kept in strict confidence. Mail jc@crack.com or ddt@idsoftware.com if you have something concrete that you think will sell.
